Silicon Motion's SM2322 at FMS 2024: Redefining Portable SSD Storage with Unmatched Capacity

At the FMS 2024, Silicon Motion showcased the SM2322, a groundbreaking USB 3.2 Gen2 x2 single-chip portable SSD controller. SM2322 supports the latest QLC NAND, providing capacities up to 8TB with 20Gbps data transfer speed for storing and accessing large amounts of content seamlessly from AI smartphones, high-performance multimedia devices, and game consoles.

If you're looking to record high-quality videos, the SM2322 is an excellent choice. For instance, recording ProRes videos in 4K resolution at 60fps consumes approximately 1TB of storage per hour. With an external SSD powered by the SM2322, you can store over 8 hours of 4K/60fps footage on an 8TB drive, ensuring that professionals can capture extensive content without worrying about running out of space.

At FMS 2024, Silicon Motion demonstrated the capabilities of the SM2322, including ProRes format recording support for iPhone using an external SSD with this innovative portable SSD controller. Additionally, a professional camera was used to showcase the recording capabilities with external SSDs, further emphasizing the versatility and power of the SM2322.

Additionally, Silicon Motion showcased a range of portable SSDs powered by the SM2320, the predecessor to the SM2322, during the event. This demonstration underscored the reliability and performance of our technology, which has been adopted by numerous leading brands such as ADATA, Crucial, HP, Kingston, Lexar, Transcend, Xiaomi, and LaCie.

The proliferation of AI smartphones and handheld gaming devices has exponentially increased the demand for managing large digital video and photographic content AI inference will generate extensive data, making high-capacity storage even more important. The new SM2322 now sets the bar even higher, introducing enhancements to support the higher speed USB3.2 specifications and providing greater capacity, catering to the needs of the AI era for large-scale digital media content storage and access.
